The eighth waste of Lean (muda) is non-utilized talent, also known as unused human potential or skills. It means failing to use the ideas, skills, and knowledge of workers.
Moving materials, products, or information unnecessarily from one place to another.
Holding excess raw materials, work-in-progress, or finished goods beyond real needs.
Unnecessary physical movement or strain by workers during their tasks.
Idle time when people or machines wait for materials, tools, or information.
Doing more work, adding unneeded features, or using higher precision than the customer requires.
Making too much, too soon, or faster than needed; it is considered the worst waste.
Producing bad parts or errors that require inspection, scrap, or rework to fix.
